Manly Bikes, originally known as Manly Bike Tours, was founded in 2007 by local entrepreneurs Jonathon Allara and James van Rooyen. Their mission was simple: make it easy for visitors and locals to explore the Northern Beaches of Sydney by bike. Starting with a small fleet of rentals, they quickly became the go-to option for anyone searching “bike hire in Manly”. With guided tours and self-guided routes, the shop grew into a popular cycling hub at Manly Wharf, helping thousands discover Sydney’s coastal beauty on two wheels.

From Manly Bike Tours to Manly Bikes

In December 2019, the business entered a new era when Francisco Furman – a long-time staff member – took ownership. At first, he continued the legacy of bike hire in Manly Wharf, but just a few months later the COVID-19 pandemic changed everything.

Adapting Through COVID-19

When international tourism stopped overnight, so did the hire and tour model. Determined to keep the business alive, Francisco transformed it into a full-service bike shop in Manly. In a matter of weeks, Manly Bike Tours became Manly Bikes – now offering:
